Hello I am going to order a padded puffa coat that is in
the sale. I’m normally a 12 to 14 do would the size medium be ok
I won’t be warring thick jumper under it as it’s a thick coat
anyway and don’t want the large to look or feel to big

I've had a proper look and I don't want to give you a guess dressed up as an answer, so I'm being straight with you: our size chart for this particular style doesn't have the detailed measurements I'd need to confirm Medium is right for you without a jumper underneath. I'm checking directly with the manufacturer right now for the actual chest/length measurements on the Medium and Large, and I'll come straight back to you with a proper, confident answer as soon as I have it.
